Today I’d like to show you around the condo my husband and I rented for one week in May 2019, when we had recently disembarked from our 16-night Transpacific Cruise from Sydney to Hawaii on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas.

Join me as I show you all the great facilities available as well as a room tour of the condo, and highlights of our stay at the Ilikai, Honolulu, Hawaii.

This is simply the story of our experience, to help you be better informed when deciding on your options to stay while in Honolulu.

The Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites is a well-known landmark in Hawaii, having been built over 50 years ago, and was made famous in the opening credits of the hit American TV series, Hawaii Five-O.

The Ilikai is located at the Western end of Waikiki, just steps away from beaches, shopping and easy access to public transport.

The Ilikai has 26 floors of mainly 1 bedroom condos of about 500 sq feet in size, including balconies (aka known as lanais in Hawaii). The top 4 floors and the second floor is managed by Aqua Resorts, and you can book and stay at the resort, just like any regular hotel.

The condos on the rest of the floors are rentals and timeshares, which are made available to visitors via booking agencies.

Generally the prices for renting a condo were cheaper than booking a suite via the actual resort.

We rented one of the Condos via Waikikibeachrentals.com, who act as an agent for many of the condo owners. Here I was able to browse through many condos which were individually owned and decorated, and could choose which one suited our needs the best. Through the website, I was able to easily research the condo options, and could look at photos, view the location, and learn what specific facilities were available in each condo. Once I found a condo which suited our needs, it was then a very simple process to book and pay for the rental.
